Channing School - Highgate
Channing is a high-performing, all-through day school for girls located in Highgate. It is a 'Unitarian' school, founded in 1885 to promote the principles of 'scholarship, integrity, altruism and independence' and these values continue to inform the ethos of the school. Channing is an academic school, with results consistently putting in amongst the highest performing schools in the country, but it is not a place where the academics take precedence above all else. There is a great emphasis on the development of character and on ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to discover her own talents.
Girls join the junior school at 4+ and higher up where space permits. The classrooms are bright and airy and there is plenty of outdoor space, including an adventure playground for the younger girls. Progression to the senior school is automatic with no further testing. Girls from outside the school join at 11+, via the London Consortium tests which are sat in January of Year 6.
