Across the last few weeks, independent school Westholme School and catering company Thomas Franks have been working to feed the local community, providing over 750 hot meals to Blackburn Youth Zone and to the charity Newground, thanks to a donation from the Together Housing charity. This initiative has brought together volunteers, staff at Westholme School and the local community who have offered their donations in orrder to provide Blackburn Youth Zone with over 160 meals twice a week.
In addition to these efforts, fresh fruit hampers will also be provided to those working in the North West Ambulance station.
Founder, Frank Bothwell, commented ‘I am so grateful to Westholme for opening their catering facilities and for their ongoing support throughout this uncertain time. We will continue to provide our services as long as they are needed, with the generous contributions from our donors.’
Catering Manager at the school James Pate, has even been on BBC Lancashire Radio in order to spread awareness of their efforts in the hope that other schools, local companies and charities may follow suit. The School explained that they 'will be providing over 1000 meals each week to the most vulnerable children and adults in the community'.
